Time Travelling With Tisya - I
These are quite vivid memories although some moments feel like they happened in a different era or a previous life. I decided to make a segment for my blog on certain memories to make my readers chuckle or maybe sometimes tsk over.
The year was 2000. I used to study in a different school. I lived in Siliguri. I was four years old. However some incidents, some smells, some flavours are still etched in my mind. I start off with a some sort of funny memory. We lived for one year in the second storey of a three-level flat. I had two playmates both of whom were older than me. One of them lived on the floor below me and the other lived in a house right adjacent to our flat with a small garden infront of it. I had a small swing made of nylon rope in the balcony right outside our flat. Every day the three of us used to play here near the swing till it became dark and my father came home.
One evening was pretty eventful. I was on the swing and the balcony gave a full view of the garden below. Suddenly from the corner of my eye I noticed that there was a sudden rustle in the trees, and some sort of a huge monkey-like creature jump to grasp for the branch. I whirled my head round to see that there was no animal in the garden. I immediately told both of my friends and my mother and all of us were terrified.
We all immediately alerted everyone and the four of us got indoors and my mother promptly locked the front door. Minutes passed and we were quietly sitting inside our flat. Suddenly there was a loud knock on the door and we were all terrified to open the door. The banging on the door got louder and louder and my mother finally gathered the courage to open the door.
There was my father, back from work, standing with a frustrated look on his face, confused as to why we took so long to open the door. We all had a big laugh and soon everyone passed off our fears of a large monkey as a figment of my imagination.
When I look back on that day, I find this incident extremely hilarious but I still can never answer the question whether the large ape-like creature was real or was something my four-year old brain had conjured up just like that.
